Today, it was my last practice and I was eager to do
it! Why? Because the previous practice I felt disappointed on myself so I wanted
to cover that feeling proving to myself that I´m able to do it better; in fact
it was!
When the teacher arrived to the classroom I already
had the board covered with some pieces of paper and some comparative and
superlative adjectives written on it; that was the topic I was assigned to
develop today.
Since I had been teaching,
to children, this topic for about 4 Saturdays I took advantage on some exercises
I already had so it was easier for me, this time!
I started with a “memory” game. I wrote on the board
some pairs of comparative and superlative adjectives then; I covered them with
some pieces of paper (those pieces of paper had written other adjectives on it
so the students could tell me which adjective they chose) I divided the class
into two groups and each group had an opportunity to choose an adjective and
look for its pair in order to match them. They enjoyed this activity because
they had to pay attention in order to remember where the adjectives´ pairs were
and everybody participated.
Next activity: I played a song and asked the
students to write down the adjectives they could indentify while listening to “a
waving flag.” After that, they told me the adjectives they listened to and I wrote
them on the board. Then, I played the song again and they worked in groups of 6
people to order the song which was cut on paragraphs. The third time, the
students check their works and made some changes. The last time I asked them to
sing just the chorus of the song since it was quite long. They sang and that
make me feel good since they were enjoying my activity!!
I brought a written exercise and the students worked
in pairs. They had to fill in the black with the superlative of some adjectives
that were between parentheses. To check their answers I gave a marker to some
students to write one sentence on the board. Then, as a whole class they told
me which were right and wrong.
The last activity was a reading. I asked them if
they know about the Guinness records and told them a little bit about it. Then,
I gave them a photocopy about some Guinness records. They read and share with
everybody what called their attention the most.
I really liked this class because I felt relaxed and
confident. Also, I liked it because I stimulated the four macro skills and the
students participated and paid attention. What called my attention and
surprised me was that there is a girl who´s not so good at any skill but this
time, she was participating and I could noticed that she was enjoying the
class!!
My feedback was
excellent; my tutor congratulated me. She liked all my activities!! I just got
one pronunciation mistake and one grammar mistake! However, I don´t know my
grade because my tutor and I forgot the evaluation sheet. I hope I can get an
excellent grade.
