Today, I started with a “Body match” game as a warm up. It was really nice,
the students enjoyed it. With this game you ask the students to make a closed circle.
When you say a body part they have to match it with his/her neighbor, then you
say another part and they match it without splitting up the previous one. You
have to look carefully if they are really joined. The students that don´t have
match their body parts are out of the game.
Then, I asked them to work on two exercises from their appendixes but I
didn´t know these exercises were not included on their appendix hand out so I
had to dictate the sentences; this took me too much time since I expected they
had all the appendixes. I prepared many activities but this was an unexpected
situation.
After, I taught grammar. I was assigned to teach around 5 pages about
grammar! OMG I didn´t know how to do. L I used the same
charts that I used in Intermediate I the previous semester. I had to teach
about “countable and uncountable nouns.” Also, I started with the same story;
Mary asked Pitter to go to the supermarket and buy some things; a chart with
the list of things was shown. Then, I divided the class in two groups. One
group would be Mary and the other would be Pitter. Mary started asking
questions to Pitter. The questions were given in order to the students notice
what the grammar phase was about. Then, I talk about the key words the charts
had and explained them by given examples rally and written. Then, I asked for
questions about it and they asked some things.
The next exercise was a filled in the blank but I couldn´t do it, first,
because I had to dictate the 20 sentences since that exercise was not included
on the students´ appendixes, either. Second, because I just had 5 more minutes
to finish my class.
My objective was achieved during the grammar part since the students were
given their own examples.
My feedback as always was so nice! I really like the way my tutor check
and tell me my mistakes. He is so comprehensible and human!
