Hello everybody, I hope you did
well on your First practice of this period.
Today, I di my first practice
on Intermediate I at 7:a.m. I arrived early to set everything.
Warm up- Fly swatter
I wrote on the board
all the vocabulary the students will study on this lesson so they can be
familiar with it. I divided the class into two groups. They made two lines in
front of the board. I gave one mark to each first student of each line. When I
called a word they would look for it and swat it then, cross it and write a
point for who swatted first the word. They really enjoyed it and also my tutor liked it. This game was so good since all the students participated and the
reading, writing and listening skills were stimulated at the same time.
Next activity was a reading about what people really want
for their birthday.
Pre activity: I asked them about ideas
related with shopping and gifts. Then, I asked them to stand up and make two
circles with the same groups they were in the previous activity. I gave a conatiner to each
group which had some pieces of paper with some questions written on
them. I played some music and they had to pass the container. When the music
stoped they had to stop passing the container and pick up a question and ask it
to the person from the other group that got the other container who had to do
the same. What I realized almost at the end of the activity is that after
reading the questions the students put them back on the container. They were
picking up the same questions! hehehehe. However, it was an activity to know
the students´ own opinions about the topic.
During activity: I set 3 minutes to
read the article in this way, they felt pressure and didn´t waste their time. After,
they worked in trios and underline any new word and I explained them.
The time was over and I didn´t feel it! I didn´t finished with the
reading activity! Well, my tutor continued and used my charts since I couldn´t
use them because of the time.
I had prepared many
activities and timed them but I guess I didn´t have my complete 50 minutes to
teach! When I started the class I didn´t watch what time was. Even though I got
a good grade and my tutor gave me a good feedback, I have improved my grammar
and pronunciation!! That was something that I was really worried about.
I hope God helps me to keep my grade till the end since
almost all the time I got a great grade in the first practice and then I go
down.
